1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing and using Student Storage services ("Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by these terms, please do not use this Service.
Student Storage ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates in Richards Bay, South Africa, providing storage solutions specifically designed for students during holiday periods.
2. Service Description
Student Storage provides the following services:
- Delivery of storage boxes to your specified location
- Collection of packed boxes from your location
- Secure storage of your belongings during agreed periods
- Return delivery of stored items to your specified location
- Online tracking and management of your storage booking
3. Booking and Payment
3.1 Pricing: Our pricing structure is as follows:
- Minimum charge: R150 for 2 boxes
- Additional boxes: R75 per box
- Optional tape rolls: R10 per roll
- Optional bubble wrap: R10 per portion
3.2 Payment Terms: Payment is required before the delivery of storage boxes. We accept various payment methods as indicated during booking.
3.3 Cancellation: Cancellations made more than 48 hours before scheduled delivery are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours may incur a cancellation fee of 25% of the total booking cost.
4. Weight and Size Restrictions
4.1 Weight Limit: Each box has a maximum weight limit of 15 kg. Boxes exceeding this weight may be subject to additional fees or refused for storage.
4.2 Box Dimensions: Standard storage boxes are provided by Student Storage. Customers may not use their own containers without prior approval.
4.3 Overweight Charges: Boxes weighing more than 15 kg will incur an additional charge of R50 per box.
5. Prohibited Items
The following items are strictly prohibited from storage:
- Perishable food items or liquids
- Illegal substances or contraband
- Hazardous materials, explosives, or flammable items
- Firearms, weapons, or ammunition
- Living plants or animals
- Cash, jewelry, or valuables exceeding R5,000 in total value
- Important documents (passports, ID documents, etc.)
- Electronics without proper packaging
Storage of prohibited items will result in immediate termination of service without refund and may result in legal action.
6. Liability and Loss
6.1 Limited Liability: Student Storage's liability is limited to a maximum of R1,000 per box in the event of loss or damage to your stored items.
6.2 Force Majeure: We are not liable for loss or damage caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters (floods, fires, earthquakes)
- Theft by third parties despite reasonable security measures
- Civil unrest, strikes, or acts of terrorism
- Damage caused by inherent defects in stored items
6.3 Customer Responsibility: Customers are responsible for:
- Properly packing and securing items within boxes
- Accurately declaring the contents of each box
- Ensuring items comply with weight restrictions
- Obtaining their own insurance for high-value items
6.4 No Liability for Consequential Loss: We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, business opportunities, or emotional distress.
7. Security Measures
Student Storage implements reasonable security measures including:
- Secure, climate-controlled storage facilities
- 24/7 CCTV surveillance
- Unique QR codes for tracking each box
- Access control and inventory management systems
However, no security system is completely infallible, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection against all risks.
8. Access and Collection
8.1 Scheduled Dates: Collection and return dates must be scheduled during booking. Changes to these dates require at least 48 hours' notice and may incur additional charges.
8.2 Extended Storage: If items are not collected by the agreed return date, a daily storage fee of R20 per box will apply.
8.3 Abandoned Items: Items not collected within 30 days of the agreed return date may be considered abandoned and disposed of.
9. Inspection Rights
Student Storage reserves the right to inspect any box if we have reasonable grounds to believe it contains:
- Prohibited items as listed in Section 5
- Items that pose a health or safety risk
- Items causing odor, leakage, or pest infestation
Such inspections will be conducted in the presence of a witness, and customers will be notified where possible.
10. Data Protection and Privacy
Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and South African data protection laws.
11. Dispute Resolution
11.1 Claims Process: Any claims for loss or damage must be submitted within 7 days of collection, accompanied by photographic evidence where applicable.
11.2 Governing Law: These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
11.3 Jurisdiction: Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Richards Bay, South Africa.
12. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or through our website.
